Yuna and Ozzie
The story would not be complete if I did not mention the "other cat" Yuna whose gentle and timid personality was overshadowed by Ozzie's magnanimity. Ozzie's unexpected and breathtaking hasty departure left me with a gaping emptiness despite Yuna's presence.
The first few post-mortem observations showed Yuna's personality morphing into a clingy, needy cat. I wasn't used to these vocalizations for attention. Suddenly, I could not even leave her with my daughter on trips as Yuna became listless, needing super attention, refusing to eat, and punctuated with seemingly unmitigated crying fits too bothersome to ignore.
The thought came to my mind that Yuna may need another cat to console her as Ozzie's absence looms larger and the days yawn further into a lonely singular existence. It is a difficult decision to make when one is in mourning. Ozzie is irreplaceable.
