Epiphany

Lord, it is not easy to shed one’s old skin and seek a new one.  It is not welcomed by people closest to you.  Family and friends may begin to question the change.  They start assuming these changes are seasonal, a passing fad, and not likely a permanent stamp.  They churn judgments about true intentions.

But you oh God know what is in my heart.  You have been changing what’s inside of me and its lambent beauty is slowly manifesting outwardly.  The public testimony of these changes is like an epiphany of sorts declaring a renaissance, a spiritual rebirth!

What I seek is to become more and more like you above all else.  Never mind if others who knew the old me insist that is a mirage, or a wishful but misguided aspiration.  People’s opinions about me should matter less than what you believe I could become.   Only with your grace will my new personhood endure and in time births its fruits.  Jesus make my heart like unto thine.
