Prayer

When the pall of gloom begins to dissipate and a crack of light filters throughout, it is easy to find hope.  But what of encroaching darkness that never lets up?  Does hope die in the smothering choke of despair?  It is when it is darkest, when it is possible that prayer is met with silence.  Yet it is in the stillness when we hear God's voice.

Prayer is not an emotion but a discipline.  The more we divorce the thought that feeling light and happy is a requirement to praying, the more we recognize that oftentimes, just being present with God is a prayer in itself.  We walk with God in prayer sometimes slow and distinct and at times frenzied with chaotic thoughts and emotions.  Still, it is the walk rather than its presentation that matters most.
