The Bread of Life
When my team mates at work and I get together for a social meeting, the conversation always ends in talks about food. I sometimes feel left out because eating out has never been my passion. Sometimes I am tempted to create stories, embellishing weekends in a gustatory marathon. It never entered my mind that the bread I am partaking at holy communion in my daily mass is a far superior food.
The bread of life is what sustains me. I will never again feel empty or thirsty in a spiritual sense. With this bread, I am inviting Jesus into my heart and soul and thus, I will not be alone. In this life, when loneliness is pervasive, it is a temptation to fill this empty gaiety with the exciting bells and whistles of earthly wiles.
The bread of life fills my life with meaning and purpose. I am readying myself in the journey, traversing its twists and turns with utter surrender to what God wills. When I embody the purpose by which I live, I am set free.
