ykonos Island is magical with its beaches and tourist attractions. Unfortunately, after 2 days in direct sun exploring archaeological ruins, I fell ill.
My back, legs, and arms are aching from the strenuous workout Wednesday and Thursday as we walked to the top of the Parthenon. I hope this is not going to get worst. I don’t have a fever but I feel like I have been beaten black and blue. Everything seems to hurt including some pulsating, throbbing pain behind the ears.
I stayed in the room all day while Tere explored Mykonos with her college friends. I wished then I was at home taking it easy. Instead I am sick. I may not be able to write anything as I am sick.
What I learned from this experience is that nothing beats surprises like a good dose of preparation. A seasoned traveler, my sister brought a medicine kit with all kinds of medications, Covid test kits, and masks. Health insurance was also purchased that will be acceptable in places you are traveling to. It is most important to have vaccinations up to date specially for Covid. Two days prior to the trip I received vaccinations for Covid and Influenza.
Now that all human effort was expended, we asked for God’s loving kindness to work miracles to return to health that felled down by sickness and maladies.
And with that, we prayed “Amen, may God’s will be done.”
