On to Delphi
After 2 hours drive from the city of Meteora, we had a brief restroom break at a restaurant in the Lamaia city. There were goodies and drinks to buy but I am not inclined to eat another bite. Not used to this constant “grazing” I begin to dread the unwanted pounds pile up.
“Three minutes on the lips. Three hours in the stomach. Forever in the hips.”
Even an unseasoned traveler like me should have a limit in food and energy consumption. Too much of anything, no matter how good has its unwanted consequence.
Another 2 hours and we will be at the city of Delphi. I just sat in the restaurant allowing the background noise all around me recede into a whisper. I am beginning to miss my cats Ozzie and Yuna after I saw a family of kittens and the mama at the restaurant. I begin to long for home.
All these new things now seemed like an assault to my senses and I craved to be at home working in the yard, going to church, or just being in a zen mood with the cats. I am reverting back to the simple and ordinary things in life. This is all a temporary diversion like the restroom break during this trip.
Oh how the shiny, new things lose their luster and the spirit cries for the simple, uncomplicated life of contemplation and prayer!
“Where can I hide from your love, Lord? If I travel to Greece you are there. Your omnipresence beckons me to come back to simplicity - hearing your voice in the prayers emanating from my heart.”
