Delphi Tour in Morning

 

D

elphi archaeological ruins in the day and Athens in the afternoon are the destinations today.  The temperature will be cool at 62 degrees.

How I was deceived by the weather!  Although we started early at 9 am, the sun became hot, overbearing then scorching.  The feeling of suffocation enveloped me as I proceeded with the tour.  I was only getting snippets of information from Eleni because of my increasing discomfort.

I tried not to focus on my lightheaded feeling and what seemed like buckets of sweat pouring down my backside.  The traveling stick Tere brought for each of us helped when walking on uneven stones specially when going down the mountainous terrain.  I almost lost my footing.

I brought a small umbrella but I heard grumbling from other tourists that I was obstructing their view.  I should have packed a small hat instead although the heat just sapped my strength.  I felt old and feeble.  The heat of the sun was a formidable opponent and I was easily vanquished.  I retreated in the shade and lost myself in writing.
