Spirit of Forgiveness

 “But I say to you: Love your enemies. Do good to those who hate you. And pray for those who persecute and slander you.”

In the spirit of forgiveness, there is no room for anger.  There is only the litany of prayers to sow good to those who spew the vile of hate.  There is no mockery, no sin of boasting or pride when an olive branch of prayer is extended to those who oppress and spread falsehoods.   

Only God is the ultimate judge.  He alone can pierce through the heart and justly appropriate the sins and the sinner accordingly.  Before I mete out my own brand of punishment or retribution to those who hate me, I should remember that God wants me to love my enemies.  In my own eyes, I also walk the path of a sinner; prone to displease God with my own failures.  Who am I to sit at the judgement table?
