Suffering and Joy

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.”

‭‭James‬ ‭1:2-7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

In this life, a little rain must fall.  It is not devoid of pain, trials, and tribulations.  Suffering is its companion.  How is it possible that in this vale of tears offshoots profound joy?  Why is there glory in misery?

Did not Christ's sacrifice rendered humanity's redemption?  His suffering and death glorified in His resurrection conquered once and for all the sting and penalty of sin which is death.  So too must our lives be viewed under this prism of truth.

The suffering endured will produce maturity, character, and strength of heart.  Persevere because of God's promise of life everlasting.  Believe in this truth and the world opens up, beckoning a new realm that swallows grief.
