The Moment is Now
1st Corinthians : 7 : 17 - However, let each one walk just as the Lord has distributed to him, each one just as God has called him. And thus do I teach in all the churches.

Why am I living in the world of "what ifs?" Did not God apportion to me in this moment, the place and the people, and the task at hand? Why should I pine for something else when I have been called to do exactly what I have right now?
The brevity of life should open my eyes to the futility of containing everything in this life. I will never get to experience every facet this life has to offer but should I feel somehow deprived? When I look at the glossy ads beckoning the promise of a fun-filled vacation in an exotic island, do I feel a twinge of sadness for the lack of opportunity or resource to do so?
God wants me to find joy even in the mundane and ordinary experiences of this life in the here and now because this life will never give me complete satisfaction. I should find gratitude and thanksgiving for the many blessings I receive instead of wistfully hankering for something else. My cup is full and God gives me according to my needs.
Lord, help me to detach myself from worldly enticements that keep me from enjoying what you give to me - health, friendship, the love of my mom and siblings, my children, my two Siamese cats that keep my company at all times and many countless blessings I don't even see. Render to me a thankful heart so that I may better see that the life I have right now is what you want for me.
