Ministry of the Cross

 Job : 7 : 1

The life of a man on the earth is a battle, and his days are like the days of a hired hand.

My life has been a battlefield fraught with one challenge after another.  The only prayer on my lips, "God, please help me" have been my only consolation.  You were always there ready to get me through the day's trial.

Perhaps looking from the outside, I may not have too much to worry about.  My suffering is not externally visible and my scars are unseen.  But, you oh God look from within and you can see through my heart.  The battle that rages is from within and like a cancer consumes me unsparingly without mercy.

This is my ministry, the cross that I bear.  I hide it because it need not call attention.  It is unique to my own situation.  Just as others walk this life seemingly gilded with luck, charm, and success, I am not fooled.  They too have their burdens and carry their own daily cross.

Who among us is without sorrow?  Who is a stranger to pain?  Which life is there filled with endless dancing and merry making?  Yet, even in the throes of woe, there is joy.  Hope does not depart from those that embrace the redemptive power of the cross.
