The Price to Pay

There are consequences to choices.  There are life-giving paths and walkways that slink into the pit of death.  Surely I hear God’s voice but I turn away from Him.  I danced on the edge of death, testing it, willing myself to go just far enough and no more.  Why?  Because like everyone else in pursuit of elusive happiness, I am caught in the web of its delusions.

The piper exacts its payment and I fall headlong into discord.  I entrap my own soul in the threshold of burning pain, caustic, stinging; writhing in agony.  When I don’t listen to God’s voice He leaves me to feel the consequence of my wayward choices.
