The Young and the Old
“Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.”
John 21:18 NIV

Lord, stay with me for the evening is nigh and fear overtakes my faint heart. It is as you said that in my aging years, I no longer recount my quick steps but rely on slow, steady footing. I no longer feel master in my own abode for many ails consume my ebbing strength. I am completely dependent on you like a child once again - being led, taught, propped, and directed. Let not my pride fall before my feet as I face my own mortality. In my stead, lead me with a trusting heart that wherever this journey takes me you will never leave me.
