Praying with Humility
“And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”
Matthew 6:7-8 NIV

Lord, what is the measure of my need? Do you hear my cries? Do you listen to my ardent prayers? I know you are busy; what with everything that is happening in the world - social injustice, wanton killings, poisonous lies, slander, calumny, bitter jealousies, indifference, coldness of heart, and tragic miseries of human depravity. I can go on and on and I may miss plenty and then some.
I cannot help but run to you for you know me better than I could ever know the depths of my own heart. I come to you daily in humble prayer. It may seem repetitious and inelegant; lacking the speech of those who mastered the art of the lettered word. But this constant knocking is the only way I know to affirm my trust in you, to seek understanding, and to engage myself in my deepest longings to reach you.
Lord forgive me if I wail incessantly for your mercy, your forgiveness and most of all your presence. Let the constancy of my petitions never bore you. Hear me, oh Lord because I need the assurance of your promise that you are always with me.
