Anti-Asían Sentiments and Hate

“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. But you, God, will bring down the wicked into the pit of decay; the bloodthirsty and deceitful will not live out half their days. But as for me, I trust in you.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭55:22-23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Since this pandemic, many people blame the Chinese for the spread of the virus and this hatred spilled on to include all people of Asian descent.  I am at the receiving end of that hate and I dread it.  I am afraid to be stomped on, sucker punched, and crippled because people allow this hate to consume them.  Even though the restrictions that were placed because of the virus are slowly being lifted, I remained cautious.  I do not want to end up with a disability and become a burden not only to my family but society at large.  Yet how does one stop hate?  How does one discern who carries this animus in their heart?  How does one continue to live without fear?

I will cast this fear aside and enter into the inviting grace called trust.  Lord God protect me from evil.  Your mantle of protection and love will shield me from the wayward arrows of hate.  Let me not be afraid of the wielded sword not because I am strong but that you are my strength.  Only in you I will trust and if this sword should cut me, I will cling to your promise that I will not die but have eternal life in you.  Your will be done.
