The Temple

“The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the protector of my life, of whom shall I be afraid? Meanwhile, the guilty draw near to me, so as to eat my flesh. Those who trouble me, my enemies, have themselves been weakened and have fallen. If entrenched armies were to stand together against me, my heart would not fear. If a battle were to rise up against me, I would have hope in this. One thing I have asked of the Lord, this I will seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, so that I may behold the delight of the Lord, and may visit his temple.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭26:1-4‬ ‭CPDV‬‬

Jesus is the temple and those who believe and trust in Him will live without death.  When the body is consumed by the earth, the soul remains unfettered, free to reach out to the heavens.  For death by sin has far greater consequences than the decay of the body.  Dying in sin means being cut off from God eternally.

I do not live a blameless life and I will be the first one to say that I am a sinner.  But I turn away from wickedness and pray for holiness.  I cannot do this on my own because the enemy oppresses me in thoughts, words, and deeds.  There are temptations and warring desires within me.  I take comfort though that death has already been conquered and the battle is already won through the blood of Jesus.  It takes faith to believe that Jesus is alive.  And it takes courage to live this faith by taking up the cross daily and asking for strength just to get through the day without faltering or giving up.  Lord God help me for I am a sinner.
