The Psalm of David
“The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.”

Lord God this prayer is most appropriate. The pandemic brought forth death and we scrambled to find a sure fire vaccine that will eradicate its vicious sting. Even though we now have several vaccines, not everyone can get it. The task of inoculating millions of people is daunting as supplies dwindle. The virus also mutates and several strains are proving more easily transmissible and dangerous. We do not have a surety that the current vaccines will work on these newer strains. The virus has become a moving target and still we hope and pray.
Where do I place my trust but in you? Although the vaccine is a shot of hope, what greater peace of mind is there than to know that you walk with me in the midst of this terrible plague? There is peace in my heart Lord and I am not afraid.
I am not afraid to lose my life and I commend my spirit in your hands. I am resigned to your will. I understand that this human, earthly life is not all there is. When the time comes, oh Lord I will simply let go. And in this free fall to the unknown, I hope to feel your loving embrace.
