Praying with Faith

“And Jesus responded to them by saying: "Amen I say to you, if you have faith and do not hesitate, not only shall you do this, concerning the fig tree, but even if you would say to this mountain, 'Take and cast yourself into the sea,' it shall be done. And all things whatsoever that you shall ask for in prayer: believing, you shall receive."”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭21:21-22‬ ‭CPDV‬‬

Lord God, forgive me for being impatient.  I prayed and prayed yet I did not receive an answer.  Is it possible that your answer right now is “No” or “Not yet?”  In my unbelief, I have doubted that you answer my prayers.  Teach me how to pray with faith.  Allow my heart to completely trust that you seek only the greatest good and that whatever I ask in your name you consider.

How long did St. Monica pray for her son?  Your answer came to light when her son Augustine became your true follower, a doctor of the church and now a saint.  I cannot divine your essence.  I have to embrace with confidence that the works you did - making the lame walk, the blind see, casting out the devil, walking on water, feeding a multitude with a few loaves of bread and fish, curing the hemorrhagic, forgiving sins, cleaning the man with leprosy, raising Lazarus from the dead, parting the Red Sea, leading the Israelites in the desert and feeding them manna from heaven, restoring Job, all these and more should be a testimony of who you are and what you are capable of doing.

Your work is not done.  You are continually walking with me on the road to Emmaus.  You are performing miracles in my midst.  I am blind.  I only see what is in front of me.  I have little faith.  Lord, God I fail in many ways and I am sorry.
