Moral Weakness
“For the Lord sees clearly what a man does, examining every path he takes. An evil man is held captive by his own sins; they are ropes that catch and hold him. He will die for lack of self-control; he will be lost because of his great foolishness.”
Proverbs 5:21-23 NLT

Sin binds a man into slavery that leads to spiritual death. There is no greater illustration about this than addiction. When there is moral weakness, there is proclivity to addiction. There is a weakness in the discipline of self and its control.
I treated a patient as a physical therapist who was covered in what looked like puncture wounds all throughout the body. Some wounds were inflamed and others were crusted over with pus. These were needle marks. This patient was in the throes of chemical addiction and his poor health indicated how he had been enslaved by a dark habit that ravaged his body and soul. I can only minister to the wounds but I remembered feeling very sad.
Judgment is reserved only to God because He can see through the heart. I pray that God ministers to those compromised by addiction whatever form it takes and delivers them from spiritual captivity. I pray that in the end, the lost will find their way back home in the loving arms of the almighty.
