Accounting One’s Life

 “Then Jesus asked them, “Would anyone light a lamp and then put it under a basket or under a bed? Of course not! A lamp is placed on a stand, where its light will shine. For everything that is hidden will eventually be brought into the open, and every secret will be brought to light. Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.”

When I die and I stand before you, oh God will I watch the movie that was my life on earth?  Will I go through it like a reel rewound so I get to see its entirety and finally understand the pieces of the puzzle falling into its place?  Will I flinch because my life is laid bare and in my nakedness will I feel shame?

Nothing is concealed before your eyes for you can see through my heart.  You who knew me before my mother and knitted me in her womb.  You who fashioned me with your hands; rending my heart like putty so that I may breathe life.  You knew me and nothing that I have covered in disgrace you did not know.

When I go back to dust, blow your breath in me once more so that I may live without dying.  I want to be with you in a life without end.  Lord God help me for I am a sinner.
