Worry
“Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow; for the future day will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its evil.”
Matthew 6:34 CPDV

The root of all worries is fear. There is fear because there is a lack of anchor. Where do I lay my head when the very world that I know rests on shifting sands?
God tells us to cast away that fear and to trust in Him. Worrying does not add a single day to our life. It does not take away the sorrow that tomorrow brings. Yet, it empties and robs us of our joy today.
Lord God, there is so much trouble in the world today. There is political unrest, racial injustice, economic turmoil, and an invisible enemy that kills. Many people are afraid and lose hope for a better future. They are crying out for a Savior and they rest their heads on something or someone other than you.
You alone God are our anchor, the promised Savior in Jesus, and the Spirit that testified truth. There is no other person or ideology to turn to. Please increase my faith and magnify your mercy in me and your people. I am quick to forget and I sometimes get caught up in the groaning of this world. Strengthen me to continue the struggle to live in this world but not of this world. Jesus I trust in you.
