When My Life Ends

“Truly, when a man dies, and has been left unprotected, and has decayed, I ask you where is he? It is as if the waters had receded from the sea and an emptied river had dried up; just so, when a man is fallen asleep, he will not rise again, until the heavens are worn away; he will not awaken, nor rise from his sleep.”

‭‭Job‬ ‭14:10-12‬ ‭CPDV‬‬

When my life ends, Lord where does it go?  Will the final rest be the decay that turns me back to dust?  Where is heaven?  Just as the earth became my temporary home, where will I reside after this life?  Is there a hope outside my human understanding?

Lord, I pray that in my numbered days I will not fear the quickening pace towards the end.  Seal me with a faith fortified by the belief that you are alive and your promises are true.  As the Son rises, when I sleep I may be wakened to witness your glory and majesty.  Beyond my grandest dreams, I may see your face.
