“Therefore, be merciful, just as your Father is also merciful.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:36‬ ‭CPDV‬‬

I observed something disturbing about how people at times relate to one another when somebody makes a mistake or creates a misstep in their life.  People are unforgiving of one another’s follies and errors.

This is not what God wants.  He has forgiven us our transgressions even when we deserve judgment and punishment.  At the throes of death, Jesus cried, “Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing.”  God is merciful and He wants us to extend mercy to others.

That does not mean do not despise the evil that a person may have done.  Hate the sin but do not act as judge and jury as if blameless and without sin.  Forgive and extend mercy because all have fallen short of God’s glory.

Lord, please make known the error of my ways so I do not puff up as if I am most pure.  I am a sinner and I need your grace and mercy to even make it through the day.  Help me to seek your way and to let your will be done.  I am not always holy but I am trying to be good.  I know I can aspire to be holy by your mercy.  Remind me always that you saved me and cleansed me of my sin when I deserved castigation.
