Jesus is the Reason
“And the Word became flesh, and he lived among us, and we saw his glory, glory like that of an only-begotten son from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

Jesus is the reason why we celebrate Christmas. He was and is the word (logos). He is eternal and exists outside of time. He is made manifest through the flesh and He dwelt among us. Many people did not know Him or accept Him. He sent many messengers (John the Baptist) to spread the good news. Today, He calls on each one of us so that we may be saved from the wretchedness of our fallen human nature. He came to save us from our sins.
I often hear Father Larry say in the sermon this question, “what does God want from you that He does not have?” If you think about it, God does not need anything. Yet, there is one thing that He wants from us and that is our sins.
God loves us so much He wants us to be part of His divine life - which is life everlasting. He wants to wash away our sins so we can be with Him. Because He is the holy of holies, He cannot be with sin and the only way we can be saved from our sins is through His Son Jesus. He was the lamb sacrificed so we all can transcend and ascend to heaven.
Thank you Jesus for your supreme sacrifice. Thank you for your love. Thank you for making it possible that we can be with you.
