An Unexpected Kindness

Before you passed this life, you made sure that your family knew the friends you knew.  One of these friends is from the neighborhood soccer team.  You often play this game to have fun with your buddies. Little did I know that some of your friends would come back to extend their friendship to me.

Three days ago, your friend Claudio recruited an army of five to make the house come alive again.  For seven hours they toiled in the hot sun cleaning the yard, removing dead plants, and trees, and planting an assortment of roses.  They practically charged me the “friend” cost to do the work.

The garden that you and I worked on to keep our home bright and inviting came to life once more.  All thanks to an unexpected kindness from a friend who remembers your own generosity.  It is a gift from you that I continue to receive from friends who are your surrogates even after you left this world.  You are not only remembered by the things you did for others but by the friends whose lives you touched who then continue to pass along this kindness.  Thank you!
