Lessons of Mourning
"I have known the blessing of sharing time on earth with another, with whom I have loved deeply. I have been enriched by their life, and I have felt diminished by their death." (Miller, 1995)
So I come to the end of mourning not without its lessons. The pain of loss has lifted and in its place, a quiet peace settles as the plaintive song of death slowly abated. It is done! This self-immolation is finished.
I have lived it all - the happiness of being with you, the sadness and the tears, our hopes and dreams half-filled and the unfinished life that still yearns for consummation. Our past life is but a memory yet, so much more needs to be done in the here and now. Life does not end in perpetual mourning. Time moves on and life continues to be.
