Resurrection of the Departed

It seemed possible that our dearly departed are alive in our hearts and memories.  We erect memorials to remember them by.  We keep some of their earthly possessions.  We celebrate their birthdays and we offer special masses on the day of their death.  We include them in our family conversations to remember specific things about them - their habits, unique mannerisms, favorite food, witticisms, and the like.  The list goes on. We remember because we want to keep them alive in our lives.

I chose to write blogs - the most intimate and hidden reflections of my life with you.  I buried your ashes, gave some of the things you owned, but you are alive within me.  Every thought and prayer I have includes you in the foreground.  You are front and center of my existence; the essence of who I am.  You are most loved when you are reverently revered and remembered.  I will always love you.

Every thought and feeling I have of you resurrects you, breathes life back into you, and transports me to the life we lived.  It does not have to end there.  Every decision that I make moving forward includes you.  What would you think?  How would you solve this problem?  What would you say to me?  Every hope and dream I have belongs to you.  When will we meet again?  At what fork of the road do I see you?  How long before my earthly journey ends and we are united in spirit?

Moving on does not mean rejecting you as if you never existed.  It means keeping you close in heart and mind because you truly have become a part of me.  I can never call myself alone anymore even when your corporal being is no more.  You have found your eternal dwelling place within me.
