Burying the Dead

The business of burying the dead is protracted.  It does not end when the body is interred on to the earth.  That is just the beginning.

It continued when I packed the things you own.  Every old shirt or shoe had a memory.  I had to brush the cobwebs off long forgotten memory associated with every article that you own and bury it.  This is not disloyal to you.  It is the unspoken business of burying the dead.

I packed your old books, clothes, shoes, and gave these all to goodwill.  I changed the cell phone number associated with you and your friends.  I kept only the treasured possessions that I want to remember you by.  I am setting you free and the life we had together.

I am beginning to live life anew.
