Under the Wings of Love
Before your illness struck, we were going about our lives totally unaware that it will soon change. We were concerned with the mundane demands — what we will eat or drink, what we will wear and how we will spend the day.
I was driving to work 65 miles one way. My everyday concern was how early I leave the house to negotiate traffic and how late I will be home from work. The daily struggle to live was the most consuming endeavor. It was similar to your plight. You were working for a bed and mattress company as a salesman and your concern was the commute and the long hours of work which averaged twelve hour shifts. Those were the easy days.
So it came as a pleasant surprise that after nine years with this long, arduous commute my supervisor supported my request for placement to work at home. Better still, I was given the privilege (not a right) to work as a “virtual” employee full-time. I was overjoyed I was allowed to work at home exclusively in February 2016.
I believe now looking back at this wonderful working arrangement for me that God kept us under the shadow of his wings. Three months later your illness struck. By this time, my work arrangement from home allowed me to be with you throughout your illness. Can you imagine if I had the same work commute how much more difficult it would have been for us to live life dealing with a terminal illness to contend with? God’s all abiding love kept us strong even when all seemed lost. Thank you, God!
